West london
January 12, 2018, 09:44:35 am
Looks like i am working up in London next week,  based out of Sunbury, not sure exactly where yet.   It would be good to get a couple of sessions in the week so can anyone point me to a decent bouldering wall i can get to by public transport without a massive expedition?

Thanks!

Sunbury is in south west London right? Just spent a couple of months working in that direction, hate to break it to you but the transport links are pretty dire. I'd guess a train to Vauxhall and a visit to Vauxwall would be your easiest, non-faffiest bet.

Trains from Sunbury go into Waterloo via Vauxhall so, as sean says, your best option is probably the Vauxwall. Setting is decent but it can be very busy 6-9pm midweek. You could say the same of all the major central London walls though.

Thanks.  There's a shuttle bus from the office to Feltham station which will help in making my escape!

Following on from the last post, can anyone recommend somewhere to eat afterwards(around 9ish) near the wall? To get back to Sunbury in time for food means leaving the wall sooner than i'd like. A decent burger would be fine.

Incidentally, i thought i knew what a busy wall looked like but i was gobsmacked walking into Vauxwall at 6:30 on a Wednesday evening...

Looks like Carshalton beeches is just over an hour from Feltham. Craggy sutton is then a 20ish min fast! walk. Much better than vauxhall IMO and it's unusual for it to be stupidly crowded. The journey could be a bit of a mission though.

Go to Dirty Burger at Vauxhall. You won't regret it.
