Anyone recommend a decent weight vest?
May 24, 2017, 12:01:07 pm
I got one as a present recently and have realised it is completely useless for pretty much anything as the fastening is gash.
Can anybody recommend a decent one for FB/chin-ups press ups etc?

I have recently bought a 10kg one of these from Decathlon, it is a jacket style with 0.5kg bags of weight that can be easily removed to vary the weight:

https://www.decathlon.co.uk/10-kg-weight-gilet-id_8313278.html?iv_=__iv_p_1_g_40754919772_c_152701764929_w_pla-158283067496_n_g_d_c_v__l__t__r_1o1x_pla_y_15177021_f_online_o_245486_z_GB_i_en_j_158283067496_s__e__h_1006851_ii__vi__&gclid=CPbas922iNQCFZKZGwodsyQAlg

It is narrower on the shoulders than the ones with the wrap around velcro fixing versions i have tried, this works for me as it doesn't 'catch' on the top of the shoulder when doing pull ups or hangs on the fingerboard. It also seemed batter quality than similar priced ones I tried with better stitching and general quality of materials.

One thing i would say though is that it doesn't feel quite as secure as the wrap around velcro design even with buckle straps cinched right down (note that I am a skinny bastard though - 36" suit jacket size) so might not be so good if wanting to boulder in it as apposed to doing more static exercises.

I have the 10kg version of this:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Weight-Adjustable-Weighted-Running-Training/dp/B00TFIXHVW/ref=sr_1_3?s=fitness&ie=UTF8&qid=1495624533&sr=1-3&keywords=weighted+vest

I've found it comfy and the weight is easily adjustable.

I've got the 20kg version, easy to adjust the weight and size with shoulder straps that are wide but not cumbersome. Recommended.

Cheers for the replies. The wraparound one looks a safe bet. Shall go forth and purchase.
