Nesscliffe conditions at the mo
April 07, 2016, 11:24:04 pm
Was thinking of heading to nesscliffe for Saturday and Sunday. Forecast looks good, and is good for Friday. Likely to be ok, or has it been too wet recently? Never been before so not sure how quick or slow drying it is. Cheers for any info!

Routes or bouldering? If you're thinking of bouldering on the top tier then that should almost certainly be fine after a dry day. Routes would be harder to call.

I'd be careful then; I don't know what its been like down there but there's been rain on and off this week in Cheshire and for the most part Nesscliffe is pretty soft and not super quick to dry. Any specific routes?

I would not be bothering until we have a good run of dry weather.

Any chance of nesscliffe being dry today (bouldering)? Seems it missed the worst of the weather yesterday and looks like it will be dry today looking at the weather forecasts.

No idea on how the rock fared as we were on the limestone yesterday but the roads were damp and it was lightly raining as we drove past Nesscliffe yesterday evening.

I drove past yesterday too and the day was generally a pretty grotty one. It rained a fair bit overnight in Hereford and would imagine it did the same further north. Nesscliffe is fragile and best avoided if its been wet/damp.

Well, other than the tornado that was reported? https://twitter.com/eustormmap/status/799226163180621824
I wouldn't be going anywhere near it until there has been a good run of dry weather.

Visited recently and the carnage from the fallen trees and large branches is pretty full on.
Many main paths around the crags are blocked,  the path round to the top of cones and currents is blocked.  The quarry floor below cones and Marlene is rammers with  fallen trees right up to the crag itself.  No damage to the rock thankfully though I'd inspect your belay tree well next time...
Some effort has been made to clear the top path by some one with a saw but there is still much work needed . I tried to do a bit by hand but proper equipment is necessary.
Climbers, horse riders and MTBers will be affected by this at the moment but I don't know if it's council run......?

Was there much snow at nesscliffe anyone? Seems like it's been a fairly dry week, just wondering if it should got snowmelt dropping off the top. Anyone in the know?

Not very current but it was pretty gopping last weekend apparently.
