Work in progress. Got the tank back after having it slimmed down on the sides and with a nice concave on top. Currently taking the old paint off, before repainting it.
Can't fucking wait but must be patient.
Probably going to buy a new mono shock before mounting the new swingarm.

You not celebrating having a Brit leading the Moto GP Lore?

 :beer2:

Makes a change from all these Italians and Spanish, heh  ;D

That said, would also be celebrating if Rossi could pull it out for one last hoorah.

Hey Dave!
Sorry, I've only just seen this!
Cal winning and getting the lead was a surprise for sure, sadly a bit overshadowed by Marquez taking Rossi down.
I don't know, I have mixed feelings about Crutchlow, he's a british racer, so this is obviously a good thing, but he always seems angry about something and always too ready to blame others for his faults.
In any case, yes, Rossi getting the tenth title would be amazing, also because it would shout a lot of mouths (not that he needs another title to do this), first of all Agostini's one.

And just like that, he loses the front end of the championship  ;)

Sorry for the delay Lore.

I'm not sure I'd say I see Cal as angry, but he does have the luxury of being on a satellite, so he gets to moan, with some of the pressure removed.

Sadly, as for Rossi, I don't see it happening  :( But his continued fight is amazing. I wish he wouldn't be quite so damning about marqez though. Vale has pulled his fair share of strenuous moves in his time too.

I'm so keen to get back on two wheels again. Been too long. Haven't had a car for a few years, and a bike could well be much cheaper, and won't feel like a waste of money. Perfect excuse!

How about you, any update on your own? This thread's been a bit quiet recently.

This is the current state of my bike, at least visually. Unfortunately, it's down waiting for a new clutch slave cylinder... I put a hydraulic clutch on over last Summer, but I bought the slave for cheap on eBay, and it broke after just a few thousands of kms. So now I'm waiting for a new slave cylinder to arrive, same model of the previous one. I decided to buy the same one because with my mechanic we thought that maybe - just maybe - the slave could have been made for mineral oil instead of brake/dot fluid, which we used. So, we're trying with mineral oil, and if it breaks again, I will shell out properly for a Magura or a Venhill slave cylinder... But hopefully there will be no need.
Then, in Autumn I took the tank to a guy who works with rally cars, I got it slimmed down and with a nice concave on top, then I had it sanded, brushed and coated transparent, and the result is - in my opinion - magnificent.
On that same trip, I also collected the new swingarm, made in aluminium trellis frame. Unfortunately I've been wating to see it mounted - along with the new mono shock - since February the 1st. On that occasion I discovered that one of the lateral supports was too narrow and the mono would not fit. I sent it back, and when I mounted it again we found out that one of the reinforcement welds on the main pivot was too thick and the mono would not fit again. I sent it back again with the mono, it got back - hopefully now properly measured and arranged - but my friend has no room in the garage for my bike, so I am on the waiting list. And now that I also have to wait for the slave cylinder, things are going to be even slower.
Luckily I have the two-stroke Yamaha to go around.
Unluckily, on my latest trip, I dropped it twice in a minute while stopped in a parking lot, probably due to something under the kickstand. Result, a cut on one of the fairing decals, a few bruises to the mirros and a bent clutch lever.
I wanted to post a pic on here with the bike finished, but since you asked...
In Italy we say "Donne e motori, gioie e dolori" which translates roughly into "Women and vehicles, joys ans pains"...
 ;D ;D ;D

"Luckily I have the two-stroke Yamaha to go around."

Always great to hear about the passions and pains of your life Lore!

Bike's looking great, and yes, totally dig the polished tank. The trellis swing arm will complement this beautifully.

If you open the image in Flickr, you can see your chalky mitt prints on the rear tyre  ;D

Will pm you x

Just two days left until the action starts in the Isle of Man!
Another year without going, lots of work committments and a conference on June the 9th!
I would like to go in August for the Classic, although I already know that I will not be able to stay for the races... I do think that it's worth nonetheless!

Hopefully Nik will delight us with lots of bike pr0n!

Weather is pretty good. Has been very sunny but now slightly overcast but dry.
Spent the morning putting final touches to the Fynoderee Gin pop up bar that we've built in the Bushy's Beer Tent 'village' (Bushy's Beer Tent is a TT institution). We've also installed the new podium. First practice this evening should be good if the weather stays like this.
I can hear the bikes on the Southern 100 course having a practice session for the pre-TT classic while I sit here eating my lunch.

The island is getting busy and the buzz in definitely starting. Here's hoping we get the weather and the racing.

Photos to follow...

I was at a party yesterday, and my dear friend Andrea offered me her old Guzzi 500 - if I can get it running.

Oh Lordy  :bounce:

This one sounds glorious:

Not that I need the inspiration.

Yes, it's exciting.

It shouldn't be too expensive to put back into running order first.

Ahhh  ::)

I hope you make it over to the island this year Lore  :icon_beerchug:

That takes me back! My dad was an early example of a born-again-biker (c.1980) and this was his re-entry into the two-wheel world after a 40 year gap. Thankfully he survived, though I suppose almost anything would be safer than a BSA on slippery wooden cobbles in east London. Seems well thought of as a real world classic. Not sure about the seat in example above, it was never a cafe-racer despite the heritage.

Thanks Nik.

That's very sad, as it always is.

Duncan, thank you for the very good info on the V50. I like the stock look. I was talking to a friend earlier. Insurance will probably make the two wheeled option so much more affordable.
