Wrecking balls
November 16, 2015, 11:02:56 am
In homage to our worshipful Lady Cyrus, we have just installed a Wrecking Ball (though not really for those of a swinging naturist bent, unless rather attractive).

Now, I've been known to do a pull up (or two) and even the addition of 35/40kg does no more than limit me to 5 or so...

But that fricken Deathstar is bloody hard to pull on!

I was not expecting the pain in the Triceps.

I'll be in to train tonight.
No one ever takes pictures of me.

Three members of staff have tried this thing now, one good pull up and an inability to lock off seems the norm...

I'd just never seen it as significantly different to pulling on the slopers of the BM, for instance, so had never bothered. Polly bought one on a whim and I just hung it, grabbed it and was instantly shocked at how hard it is.

It looks like a black buoy. Font regulars would crush it I'd imagine whilst dartmoor crystal pullers will be understandably quizzical

Ummm, yeah, uh, guilty.

It was such a rare thing and I liked it (even more rare) so used it and forgot...

More importantly why have you got a pair of smurf bollocks and a red raw smurf hard on directly above it?

I was hoping to see some wrecking ball action. Preferably clothed.

Fark no.
Still one rep and a frenchie lower off, with no weight. Then my hands slide off.

The compression required is nuts.

Were you taking the weight off yourself there at the end for dramatic effect. I enjoyed that very much. Like a singer dropping the mic before walking off stage.

I'm pretty sure that was only 2 pullups, and then a few failed reps  :tease:

The balls are funny.  They certainly showcase if you have the tight compression thing down.  You should see if a few of your strong kids can do levers on it :)

I can easily hang and do pullups if a bowling ball, the large atomik ball, or a few others which have been made locally if it is over or by my head, but in front of my chest and I'm a pathetic tool.

Yep, I can hang on it forever.

The younger (smaller) kids had no trouble with it (8-11 years), some of the stronger 14/15 yr olds struggled like all the adults (even the strongest).

So it must also be a relative size issue.

How do you hold the big black ball, OMM??

At the moment, with my fingers almost touching at the top, for a pull up.
By the time I've reached the zenith of the move, my hands are well on their way to the 10 to 2 position and from there I cannot initiate the next pull up.

I can hang it fairly well with hands at 10 to 2 (if you get what I mean, a bit more than half way to the equator?).
