If you are going to criticise the use of English on ukb then post here

Capital letters should be used for acronyms.

Technically UKB isn't an acronym because it isn't pronounced as a word ;)

But is even United Kingdom Bouldering anyway?
Or is it UK Bouldering?

And wouldn't that make the correct abbreviation UB?

2 pages of this and 18 pages of deadlifting. What have we become? No, enlightened is not the word I was thinking of

We are, surely, the "Renaissance" forum of climbing intellectuals, are we not?

(Note correct use of ?).

And Dense is our "Philosopher King"...

I always thought that ukb was about climbing.
I told them to man-up and set up a grammar, punctuation and spelling thread.
They haven't done this, they must be too busy correcting people's punctuation, grammar and spelling.

Now I could of course criticise your SPaG here. But no. I'm above that.
Instead I'm to critique your choice of wording as I believe you missed an opportunity for greater impact.
Perhaps somewhat counter-intuitively repetition can actually be an excellent tool for 'hammering' a point home. Consider MLK's fame for having a sleep disturbance, by way of example.
Sadly your inconsistent ordering of the words for which SPaG stands, lost this potential for impact by repetition, rendering your post slightly less potent that it might otherwise have been.

Also, fuck you guys. Philosopher king? That's my crown, bitches!

Given your failure to reference Hegel I'd say your crown is tarnished.

Running up and down stairs with 30kgs on? To get better at rock climbing?

That sentence is supposed to be read with an intonation of incredulity, hence the question mark. If, however, I were to use a question mark on the sentence I just wrote, it would just read with a needless rising tone, which I find infuriating to read. Clearly some people don't mind. A Literacy Lesson by abarro (the new amazon best seller)

I don't mind.
What might upset you doesn't really bother me.

There is a big difference between how people write and actually talk.
It is sometimes difficult to express things correctly when posting on UKB.

I think that in the big scheme of things on UKB, spelling, punctuation and grammar, although important shouldn't really matter too much.
Everybody makes mistakes.

If it upsets you then post items here.
Rather than cluttering up threads else where.

It does seem as though you have one rule for yourself and a completely different for everybody else.

Pete - With regards to the French philosophers, they always sent me to sleep when I studied them.
Too wordy for me, I would rather get a finger board session in!

Hope that everybody had a good weekend and thanks for the entertainment on this thread. :)

He's not getting it, is he?

Nobody cares about your spelling, punctuation or grammar.
Barrows was winding you up.
Everybody takes the piss out of everyone.

Especially when, like some people, you moan at people doing deadlifts on one thread, then complain about how weak your legs are on another....

😜

I do.

While I am guilty on many a typo (my laptopkeyboard is fucked and too many times I post when on the blower at work) unlike  Peter Ande wannabe lookalikes I know the difference between fake tan and being a hard man.

what Oldmanmatt said. jfdm no-one, including wheelbarrows, really gives that much of a fuck about grammar and shit - expect to have the piss taken and let it ride. We don't need a thread to complain about typos.. there aren't enough hours in the day to deal with Sloper's daily quota alone.

And seeing as this thread seems to be turning into the repository of randomness, I submit this picture.

It's right - no one cares about it - as long as you don't call a major national park in the UK it the Peaks - or use an x in expresso....

Oops. :)
