The BMC has negotiated a special one off discounted rate for BMC individual and club members at the Stanage 'North Lees' Campsite until 31st March 2015.

The North Lees campsite is perfectly located for walkers and climbers, a short distance from the iconic Stanage Edge as well as a host of other crags and stunningly beautiful moorland areas. It is set in a peaceful woodland below Stanage Plantation and has formed a base for countless unforgettable gritstone trips and Peak walks over the years.

The fee is a flat rate of £5 per person per night and £1 per vehicle per night. Tents under 5m in length and regular size campervans are allowed on the site and no pre-booking is needed.  The site is open from Friday mornings until dusk on Sundays, and you are free to turn up and pitch any time over the weekend.

Tent pitches are on a gently sloping grass field and campervans should park in one of the hard standing car spaces. Toilets, wash basins, showers, washing up points and a drying room are available to make your stay more comfortable.

The site isn’t officially open during the week, but special arrangements may be possible if planning a trip over weekday nights by calling the manager on the camp site phone number 01433 650838. If your call goes to voicemail, please leave a contact number and you will be called back – messages are checked daily. If you are planning on visiting with a group, it is worth calling beforehand to let the campsite staff know how many people will be arriving.

Campsite details including location can be found here.

February 2015 update:

The Peak District National Park Authority has recently agreed to re-invest £60,000 into North Lees campsite, including a significant re-furbishment of the existing facilities and potentially some additional new ones to make the site more appealing during winter. This is fantastic news for walkers and climbers with this iconic and great value accomodation option having an optimistic outlook for the timebeing. This does mean that it is going to need plenty of campers passing through the gates in order to ensure its long term future so as the saying goes 'use it or lose it!'
