Font Bunkbarns?
January 28, 2015, 08:18:32 am
Sorry to start another variant on a Font accomodation thread. Three of us are trying to get somewhere to stay for a week at the start of April. It would be nice not to have to camp.
As expected, most of the gites appear booked and those that are left seem very expensive!
Are there any bunkbarn options, with communal living space and kitchen, that we could look at?

This place was advertised on here a while back but I thought it was quite pricey compared with camping at grez sur loing http://www.fontaineblhostel.com/home.php

Formula 1 aren't much better than a bunkbarn, and a similar price. Communal eating area too, although you'll need to go to the outside, covered area to use a stove.
Nemours is probably the handiest for climbing.

Try looking just outside the Forest, quick look on gsm showed a few places still available south of Nemours (assuming WC 4/4/15?) which might feel miles out but plenty of good Southern areas to go at within 20 minutes and only another 10 minutes or so to the heart of the Forest, plus they're much cheaper than those in the Forest proper.

Around Melun also an option. stayed here previoulsy, slightly dated and have to loop across the Seine every day but three bedrooms and only 20 minutes or so from Canon.  Top class Boulangerie nearby too, best Almond Croissant I've ever had.

I have vague recollections of Leeds Uni club using a bunkhouse at one of the campsites, but this info may be 15 years out of date.

I was in contact with this place earlier in the week: http://www.leclosdutertre.com/ based on a recommendation in an old forum post. We're also looking for a place at the beginning of april. I didn't suit us as there were only B&B style rooms available for that period, although they have cooking facilities for guests to use. It might be handy and certainly looked nice in the pics.
