Developing a mild case of the old golfers elbow. Anyone tried this?

Yes, I've tried it. I seem to remember it feeling nice but I've no idea whether it actually helps or not, my feeling is that it did help. Be careful with it though because it puts a lot of load through your elbows.

Quite. The laying down bit looks a bit full on.

I do it for about 30-40 seconds as soon as I get home from every climbing session.

My tendinitis is better than it use to be, but the improvement could easily be due to being more conscious of my climbing style and climbing more on grit than plastic.

I can confirm that it hasn't made it worse, but I think all tendinitis related exercises take a long time before the effects become apparent.

I think it depends on your body shape as I found it fine...

Take it easy. It definitely made mine worse.

Seems to help me a bit with no ill effects, but everyone is unique. Eccentrics give best relief in my experience but it is worth a punt.

Tried it standing, facing a wall. Gave good control.

This stretch completly cured my elbow in about 3 weeks.  Did it twice a day about 30 seconds each time.
I too found it less faff to do stood up against a door frame.
Nothing short of a miracle cure for me having tried all the other exercise based alternatives.
Does feel like it's bad to be bending you elbow back on its self this way but doesn't seem to do any harm.

I do it and it helps but can't get both arms under so do one at a time

Tried it to no avail. Both of mine have been bad for about 9 months now. A Physio did think they were related to median and ulna nerve issues stemming from my neck/back, so I've been working on chest and stretches, and also my posture. Safe to say that's not really working either!

I did it, plus all the shoulder stability exercises here http://climbingphysio.blogspot.co.uk/ and my elbows got better.

Cheers for the link Tim. Some good knowledge from Joe there and helpful vids.

Personally it didn't work for me. The most effective thing I found was doing the youtube exercises involving a Flexbar, which looks like it belongs in the bottom drawer of a bedside cabinet. Luckily a friend lent me one as they're massively overpriced, but it does seem to be much more effective than the equivalent exercises using freeweights.
