Stealth paint glue
November 23, 2014, 10:01:59 pm
Ran out of the cement that comes with the kit which is called 'barge cement' but I can only seem to order it online from America and postage is a little steep.  Any one know of alternatives

If you take the tube down your local glue supplier then they'll probably sort you out with knowledge and alternative. I did the same with an unknown glue product for something completely different and was awed by their willingness to help out and do some sleuthing. I guess it's their expertise and passion so it was a fun game for them!

Hey Haydn, make sure there's no shoe goo on show. It dries like polished limestone, no friction at all.

Just spotted this quote on the other channel:

Quote
Bostick 2402, two part chloroprene adhesive.

Sticks on contact once tacky, extraordinarily strong, used for edge gluing neoprene for divers drysuits and attaching boot soles.

Clean thoroughly with Isopropyl Alcohol (Surgical Spirit BP) or Acetone first, be very careful not to press the rand to the boot until you've got it positioned Just So, because it will stick and stay stuck.

Certainly sounds like a good candidate for glueing rubber at least, not sure how it'd work to create 'stealth paint'. I'm keen to glue some rubber over some holes appearing on the uppers of my wall shoes and also have some rubber I want to glue to a neoprene knee support. I tried other glues but they always seems to come unstuck. Will report back if I get round to it in the near future.
