Venue: Adsetts 6620, Sheffield Hallam University City Campus

Simple, elegant and efficient, the bicycle is a technology which brought liberty to millions. It wasn’t long before bicycles were being used to test the strength, skill and endurance of athletes in a plethora of disciplines. As technology progressed and understanding increased, extraordinary feats of athleticism followed. This lecture discusses the technology and science of bicycles, outlining some of the advances which have pushed on human achievement through time.

Dr Simon Choppin is a Research Fellow and cycling obsessive at the centre for Sports Engineering Research at Sheffield Hallam University.

To reserve a place contact Sandra Baker, 0114 225 3149 or email science-week@shu.ac.uk

A lecture by Chop, a local roadie (and friend of several on here) who as anyone who had ridden with him will confirm, knows a thing or two about speed.
