Ogwen - Sheep Pen
November 22, 2013, 10:08:56 am
Few of us planning on heading up on Sunday. Anyone know what conditions are like in Ogwen or Sheep Pen specifically? A lot of snow?

Forecast looks sunny between now and then.

Cheers

It has snowed quite a bit in the mountains this week but it's only stuck high up. Sheep Pen should be alright, but there might be some seepage streaks on the main face. Plenty of other quick drying stuff here though.

Great place to boulder in the winter sun - good choice!

Got as far as Bethesda this morning about 11am. It was pouring down and the mountains looked soaked. Sacked it off and went to the cave!

Anyone know what condition the mountain boulders are in? Keen to head to the pass, it's very misty/damp here in Wrexham though...

Cheers

It was misty first thing this morning but it has burnt off now and cleared up nicely. It was mint up the Pass last night.

Actually, the mist did swirl around, sort of off-and-on all day. Still looked pretty sunny up in the mountains whenever I looked out the office window.

It turned out amazing, did Roadside Arete in the sun then went up and did Pac Man Arete and Karma Sutra. All amazing problems! Just love the mountains!

Tried G Spotting, felt nails! Could barely pull off the deck!

The key to G Spotting is to use a poor low undercut for your left - did you try that?

Tried RH fat pinch, LH low crimp rail thing. Trying to go up LH to that really sloping ledge, no idea what to do after that, match the sloper?

Last move is ace, managed that haha. Felt very hard for 7A but I could tell it's techy.

Are there specific starting holds? I did notice the undercut but thought I had to start as above.

Cheers Si

There's a really good bit of rock in the adjacent woods. The 6C stand up version of the 7C is excellent.

That sucks, anything climbable?

A quick question to anyone who knows...

In the Ogwen is the Decoy Ploy area near Milestone easy to find/navigate around? Specifically would like to go do Flip Flops... and Quantanic? Easy to find?

I'm going to go on Saturday, any idea if conditions will be any good?

Cheers

Also, does anyone know how close The Decoy Ploy area is to the Lunar Block? (Probably more of a question to Si)

Cheers
