Peckers

No, you filthy sods, this isn't an opportunity to compare penis sizes. I was wondering if anyone Sheff-side has one/some peckers and/or skyhooks they might be prepared to lend me...

Interesting. I was trying a new route yesterday with a bold and insecure start. The only potential gear placement I could find was a tiny slot that wouldn't take any wires but looked like it would take a pecker. Of course I didn't have one with me - I've been meaning to get one for my winter rack for ages but keep forgetting.

Cheers Alex,

if you wouldn't mind, that'd be great.

Si - I bottled it yesterday but think that a nut key would work almost as well as a pecker in the slot I'm thinking of. Maybe yours as well?

Stu,

I have a pecker that I can lend to you if you can't find one locally. I'm Edinburgh based but can post it down to you - you can just post it back when your done.

Just let me know if you need it.

Ta

Cheers Rosmat,

It's a kind offer, but if it comes to that I'll probably just buy one...

Isn't it traditional to go into Outside in Hathersage for this sort of gig, and ask to borrow a collection of random shop fittings to insert into the appropriate crevice?  :-\

I've got two skyhooks, one small, one large. Could leave them behind the counter at Outside when I'm in on Thursday if thats any use, no peckers though. Dare I ask what route it is?

I went out last night and a pecker does a perfect job. I won't be needing any skyhooks.

On the other hand - if anyone has a #1 (blue) ballnut I can borrow that would be awesome.

P.s I'm about to mention the route below, so if you like peak lime trad and want to preserve your onsight, stop reading now....

The route is Ninth Life. Where the traditional skyhook goes there seems to be a very good upside-down pecker. The slot to the right may also take a very good small ballnut. I'm currently planning on using two taped-together nut keys, which is actually a decent placement. With the bolt on boring, which presumably wasn't there orginally, the route seems reasonably well protected like this.

I have ballnuts you can borrow from Totley.

A good upside down pecker,  :-\ sounds like an oxymoron to me.

Also have a ballnut and will be at two-tier tomorrow if that's any good.

I had an old style Wild Country nut key which did fit but rocked about a bit. I thought the pecker, perhaps with some finger tape wrapped round it would be more stable and stronger. I went and bought one yesterday - cool little thing!
