Good restaurants in the Toon

Anybody have any restaurant recommendations in Newcastle? We're going to see Bonobo on Friday and want to get something good to eat beforehand. Not too expensive (<£20 mains) and most types of cuisine considered... Cheers!

cheap? Curry Hell at the Rupali is free. If you finish it.

Not sure how popular you will be at the gig though.

I can highly recommend The Big Mussel on the Quayside, particularly their 'Mussel Mania' deal (a treat for both gastronomers and punaholics).

My favorite at the minute. Scotch eggs and the spicy blood pudding Yum. We often just get a "tapas " style selection of the bar and small plates and leave it up to the waiter.

Not expensive and good beer as well.

You might need to book.

+1 went there 8 or 9 years ago and it was great. There was a Japanese restaraunt kind of opposite it (up the hill on a corner) that was brilliant too - it had a A4 binder size menu!
