Kettle Beta
March 10, 2013, 10:54:46 am
The wife's 2nd love of her life, her £5 Woolworth's kettle has just died after 13 years of service. She tried serenading the kettle just in case it needed cheering up, with while I tried useful stuff like changing the fuse etc..sadly there was no hope

So, following on from the recent toaster beta, any Kettle recommendations from the UKB hood. We are wondering about stove top kettles, but not sure about pro et contra.

Cheers

Stove-top pros:

  • Looks well Jackson
  • Is more efficient according to above report and others I've seen (Guardian I think)

Stove-top cons:

  • Can take a while
  • Not usually as big as an electric kettle

Stovetop pro:
  • They whistle when they are done!

Stove-top con:
  • They aren't so energy efficient when you leave them to boil, go upstairs and forget...

How can you forget when they whistle? Unless your house is so big you can't hear it from upstairs...

Number 4 on this

Not that it matters anyway if you drink yours white...

I use a stove top to reduce electricity costs primarily, but also because it takes up less room and because a decent one will last a lifetime.

I like the sound of a kettle lasting a lifetime
