At the last Peak Area meet Dan Firth talked through a brilliant recycling pilot project he's  running with the BMC collecting used climbing gear and remaking it into  rope rugs, jewellery, animal toys, harnesses, dog leads and more.

A number of climbing walls have collection bins where you can donate the gear .

The climbing walls participating in the Northwest pilot are Awesome walls - Liverpool and Manchester, The Manchester Climbing Centre, and The Edge, Sheffield.

Bring any gear except boots as they don't have a use for these yet.

If you are a climbing wall and are interested in setting up a collection point email Dan at info@greenpeakgear.org

It's run by volunteers and money raised goes to the BMC Access Fund.

Rather than recycle them wouldn't it be better to leave them behind the counter at Outside or the Works for general use?

You can use tricams in gear placements other than those on Masters Edge too.
