After 18 years based on the Ceunant hillside, Beacon Climbing Centre relocated in July 2012 to a huge new modern facility, located on the Cibyn Estate in Caernarfon on the main A4086 Llanberis road.

If you’re hoping to improve your stamina then this is the place to come! The new lead climbing walls extend up to 17m high with a maximum 7m overhang, dwarfing the 12m high walls at the old Beacon and offering numerous awesome routes guaranteed to offer a rapid introduction to forearm pump! Hello Mr Lactic. Opposite the main leading wall, you'll find a 15m continuously overhanging wall, currently offering some brilliant and pumpy face style lead climbing. Grades extend up to F8a.

The bouldering area includes a full overhanging arch and offers a good array of climbing on a variety of angles.  Further development of the bouldering areas is on-going and the existing area will double with the opening of phase 2 at the end of August 2012. Phase 3 is due for completion in October 2012 and will include an 11m long and 5m wide bouldering 'routing roof' that will allow route style forearm pump sans harness.

The new Beacon also includes the World’s first CrazyClimb installation, a dedicated Kids’ bouldering area and an awesome café with spectacular views of the lead climbing walls - gain beta whilst drinking coffee and eating home-made cake!

Phase 2 bouldering, located on the ground floor, is now complete and open at Beacon Climbing Centre, adding to the large area already located upstairs within the recently completed new centre. With over 50 extra problems to try on multiple angles including a large free standing boulder, the addition of Phase 2 has more than doubled the bouldering on offer at the centre.

Phase 3 is due for completion in October 2012, see the original post for further details.
