I've told them I'm only voting if they do Le Col de Moss

That would be awesome. Something tells me it's unlikely. I've voted anyway.

Now seems less likely with British Cycling backing a joint bid from Scotland, Wales and England.

Nicely illustrated too. I guess the best view in Yorkshire is from the spot where all you can see is Derbyshire.

^ ^^ a pic that gives me unclipping anxiety.

Anyway, send the buggers round the white rose with Le Grand Départ on the grove then straight up Langbar. That'll sort 'em out. Also woo, and hoo!  :dance1:

The press so far has said 'heading South from Leeds' hopefully the first stage will actually head North otherwise they'll miss the good bits of Yorkshire!  ;D

Hoping they'll be heading north to the Dales - that would be a good start.

Where would they head south to? I mean I know what is South of Leeds, but what is worth sending the tour de france to and South of Leeds?

p.s. which paper used that photo to illustrate the story? Their picture editor needs replacing and then airbrushing out of existence. Not a picture of a yorkshire, not a road bike... pah!

Unfortunately it was the Tour twitter feed, although I guess it's close...

okay, hefty disclaimer and all that (and probably old and/or already debunked news to those who have an interest), but ususally very reliable sources divulge the following will be revealed on 17 Jan at a press conference in Leeds (with apparently a similar event in Paris so they don't feel left out) : -

Day 1 - Saturday 5th July 2014 - start in central Leeds [Armley gyratory anyone?], out through Harewood House then prob up Sutton Bank, through NY Moors Nat Park and down for a sprint finish on the sea front in Scarbs.

Day 2 - start in downtown old York, over to t'Dales, [I hope] down through Ilkley, up past the Cow and Calf, down through Halifax and "maybe" ending in centre of Shef.

All yet to be confirmed but you know where you heard it second...

Will Snake Pass be renamed "Col de Serpent"? (I expect my geography is as bad as my french).

I am disappointed by the failure to confirm the inclusion of Langbar (la colline interminable verticale qui fait pleurer des hommes forts),

Ah, when they said two stages I had assumed that one of these would be the Prologue around Leeds centre. I guess we get that plus the two day stages?

From what i've read so far it seems they are planning to sack off the prologue and go straight for a road stage.

The weather and road conditions in Yorkshire will make the Hell of the North look like a recovery session on the on the turbo trainer.
