ukb enabled on Tapatalk smartphone app
October 08, 2011, 02:39:09 am
The forum is now enabled for the Tapatalk smartphone app (available for Android, Blackberry and iThings). You may have to pay for the app (£2'ish on apple appstore, for example) ... but don't worry, we don't get any of it  :(

To make it work, open the app, search appropriately (or click through "Society and Culture" then "Outdoor and Travel"), click on "UKB", log in and that's it. It has a few odd features: images and avatars are handled OK but not smileys?

All feedback welcome ...

Thanks Toby.

You can download the app for iFerns, Droids 'n Berries here

If you're a Freetard like me, you'll be able to find an Android version for less that the official price.

It's certainly works better than viewing the normal site on a phone browser.

NOOOOOOOOO!

This means if you're not using the app then it pops up an annoying window EVERY FUCKING TIME YOU VISIT THE FORUM.

You mean the Android Market thing? It only does it once for me. I can shut down the browser, restart it and it doesn't do it again.

Are you cancelling the popup or OKing it? I hit OK, it took me to the market and then didn't do it again. Maybe because I've got the app installed...

Ok in a monumental backpedal it doesn't seem to be doing it now, although it certainly has done it every time on other forums i've used.

As you were.

I can see how the popup is/could become annoying, especially as it's a paid app...so I've commented out the code that drives the popup.

It shouldn't happen anymore.

No, I can't find a way to give karma either.

That's quite annoying and I'll raise it in the Tapatalk forum.

You can remove the annoying "sent from my phone type using Tapatalk" by going to settings/signatures/tapatalk signature and selecting "none".

I checked with the Tapatalk developers - this feature is going to be included in a future version, but no timescale given.

No worries, it's doesn't look as fly as the web version but the app is far snappier and easier to use
Nice one Bubba, I'd wad you but... ;)

Seems pretty slick when used on Apple's groundbreaking iPhone. I like it. Hopefully the karma can be added, but in the meantime I'll have to make do with patting dense on the back when I see him down the wall.

Has something been changed on this serverside? As i'm no longer getting a nice list of unread posts.. instead I just get the forum theyre in (e.g. shooting the shit) then have to go into that to see the post... I've not changed anything on iOS....

I know this is obvious, but are you logged in inside the Tapatalk app? If I'm logged out I just get the forums list, but when I'm logged in the unread/pm/etc stuff is all there ok.

Didnt check that - though from memory it was showing listing posts I'd not read - in the format I mentioned above.. so I'd guess id have to be logged in for it to know what I hadnt read!

I'll check again this evening..

Cheers Bubba.

i think you've accidentally tapped the 'unread' tab. This toggles between the view you describe and the normal list of unread topics. Bit confusing

For Android users, Tapatalk is currently available for free from http://www.getjar.com/

The Getjar appstore is not as nice as the official Android market - e.g. you can't update apps from it, but it does offer some pretty good paid apps for free.

Not having used tapatalk before...
And having an earlier morning than intended.
I was poking around at the app features.
The "online" bit is a little scary...

I'm watching you, watching me...
But,
Who's watching me, watching you, watch me?

Tapatalk 4 launch offer - available on Android for only £0.64 for one week.

In light of recent discussions thought I'd mention that Tapatalk 4 doesn't recognise the nsfw BBCode markup.

Can anyone using Tapatalk pleeeeeeeease disable the signature, or edit their posts if that's not possible? it's quite annoying.
