Please don't disregard this as yet more armchair activism. IMO this is a much bigger threat to our countryside than the recent forest sell-off proposals.

The goverment's planned changes to the planning regs are a HUGE threat to countryside. If this is allowed to happen you can be sure it will affect crags too. I hope the BMC will be joining the public opposition to this.

Similarly the National Trust, who have been spearheading the campaign, have a petition here:

https://www.planningforpeople.org.uk/

Worth signing both I think.

If, as they probably do, the government collects all the data on who signs potentially "subversive" petitions (anything against their shit plans) and collates it to rank us into high or low risk categories then I'm up turd creek.

Signed both. Hope the BMC do become involved. After all it's in the interest of its members.

Does anybody have a link to the proposal? Sounds like a good idea to sign but need to see what I'm opposing first!

signed.

Every time Cameron says he is determined to save or protect something, like he did today about the countryside, it seems to me that the opposite is true.

Now I expect you to read it all Will. Digest and understand.

Or just save your time and sign the sodding petitions.

Well this is promising wording in the document:

... the development should not be allowed if it would undermine the key principles for sustainability in the Framework (such as protecting the Green Belt and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty)

Wow, "should not"! Unless that was replaced by "would not" I don't think that sentence would do fuck all to protect shite.

I may be doing something wrong, but the National Trust link isn't working for me?

Quite possibly. I'm still not paying though.

It was some site certificate shit. Sorted it and signed both petitions. I still fucking hate the Tories. They haven't softened a bit since their last stint. Cunts.

At a guess, 'must not'would be the enforceable phrase I'd think.
