Scarpa Booster Sizing
March 30, 2010, 04:26:15 pm
Looking for some advice here.  Boosters are available cheap but I'm unsure of sizing having never tried them on (yeah, I know the potential issues).

Looking at Greg's R+R guide has confused me- I measure a UK9 which suggests I should wear a Verde UK 7 and Dragon UK 7.5, and thus a Booster Euro 42.  All well and good, but I wear a verde 8.5 and Dragon 9.5.

So how does the sizing of Boosters compare to Dragons/Verdes/Pinks?  I'd like to buy the Boosters but won't get a chance to try them.  Going by Greg's chart I presume I'd be looking at 44.5 if the Dragon relationship is a linear one.

Thanks peeps!   :please:

I'm a size 9 and have always gone for 39 in stix and 40 in boosters, cos you can size boosters a wee bit bigger with em being velcros. Got no complaints about em,painful for about a week, then a great shoe. in my experience they stretch a lot,so i get em pretty snug, you could go bigger but the heels have a tendency to bag if you do this. As a reference,i'm a 7.5 in Anasazi velcros, and 8 in Teams. Hope this is of some help.

So you're best getting the tightest you can get into?  From what you're saying the 42 may not be far off  :-\

Wow, thats odd, I'm a size 9 and I've got the boosters in a 43. Unbearably painful on the toes for the first three/four weeks but I would say just about spot on now.

I have to tape over my 2nd toe through because its longer then my big toe and it gets forced to bend and rub on the top of the shoe. Makes toe hooking a little more painful than normal.

Have only noticed a tiny amount of stretch in them and I've had them for four  months now.

You're right about the heel it does bag a little on mine.

I've this sort of freaky toes too, and on my left foot my third/middle toe is the longest.

Yes, Slackers- it's similar to finger length.

Yeah, I know about the relationship between testosterone and 2nd and 4th finger length, but this my 2nd and 3rd toes is in relation to the big toe, and not ratio of the 2nd and 4th toe.

Any freaks out there with thumbs longer than their second finger?

I've got rather long toes, I can pick up a tennis ball with my feet. I realise this probably doesn't help with the original question and will probably just reinforce the widely held opinion that I am a semi-domesticated part shaven ape but you can't win 'em all...

I am a semi-domesticated part shaven ape

My wife's given up on trying to shave me, but would still like to get me part domesticated. Any tips?

I'm a 45 in normal shoes and wear a 44 in Boosters. They are a different type of fit/shape around the toe to other footwear and toe length/foldability will make a difference. Really worth trying them on to size them if you get a chance. A top tip from Sam at the works was to put them on, let them hurt for a minute, take them off for a bit and then put them back on again; for some reason this makes them lots more comfortable and stops you wanting a bigger size.

Upon reflection I think that joke might have gone straight over my head (again  ::) ).

42 quid at Nevis Sport.
I may be able to visit a shop in the morning, but thanks for all the replies.

EDIT- I've phoned Kendal so I know what sizes are in stock- if I arrive tomorrow and someone has bought them, I'll hunt you down like a pig

To be honest any claims of domestication were probably over-stated.

I've ordered myself a new pair of 44s, wouldn't fit you anyway G.
Shame, as I'd probably be good fun to hunt like a pig.

Just tried some on.
They only had them down to size 42.  42s were pretty tight at the front, and length wise.  However here was still a bit of baggyness in the heel. They didn't have a 41 to try and as that's the smallest they sell I'll have to go with that.  Let you know when I get them.

I wish I could get these to fit, but my feet are too skinny, and far too shallow. I can't fill the space. If I get them tight enough on the length, then there's a massive dead space under the middle half of my foot. However the Rockette's would fit me really well, if they made them up to a 41.5! It might be worth searching for them, however it doesn't look like Nevisport are doing them.

After that last post I sat and had a coffee and thought.  In the end I bought a pair of 42s to try. At 42 quid I can't lose much.  I'll order some 41s later.

I am known for being a hobbit, and they fit me but I had to trim the hair on my toes to get into them as they pulled them painfully. That is absolutely true,   I even have witnesses.

Ok confused by some of the differing opinions on the relative sizings from stix to boosters. Ive been mightly happy with the stix. If someone was size x in the stix and wanted to replicate that in the boosters would it be a booster in size x or x+1, +-1 etc?

Cheers

Not much help to you Tim, but you reminded me I hadn't fed back.
The 42s stretched out well and are pretty comfy for wearing for some time, the only downside is the heel is slighty baggy.  The 41s I am in the process of wearing in but I'm confident they will stretch too, but certainly have less heel bag.
