So the budget for BBC Parliament channel is more than 6 Music?!?!? Only Sloper watches it. Scrap that and save 6 Music. Simple.

Never mind that, 6 Music only costs 3 x Anne Robinson! WHAT THE FUCK!?!?!

Here's an idea. Televise her execution on PPV at £10 a shot. That should bring in at least £6m (at a conservative guess) and with the £3m saving on her salary you have the £9m to pay for 6 Music for another year.

Don't worry guys, we've been assured that the BBC will be bringing more Music 6 type content to Radio 2 to make up for our loss. See, they've made a start by cutting their only good show, Radcliffe and Mackonie, from five to three nights a week! Hold on a minute... :-\

It's this crap about 6Music covering an "area" that the commercial stations already cover, or should be allowed to, or might do if they get rid of it er......or something, we're not really sure but we're sure we're right.

The argument (if you can even call it that) makes absolutely no sense whatsoever and even if it did then it would be wrong as no commercial station could ever be anything like 6Music.

You can see why that bird is tipped to take over from Mark Thompson in the future as she's as clueless and out of touch as he is (and almost has the same name).

Is Thompson being paid by Murdoch to do as bad a job as possible so that the BBC is in such a state that the Torys can justify scrapping it? I can't see any other explanation for some of his decisions. The idiots are winning.

Surely the logic of this argument would call for the immediate axing of utterly shit for brains tat such as Strictly Come Dancing, the combined saving from which would pay for 6 Music many times over, not to mention clearing space in the schedule for some actual real life public service broadcasting. Crap such as Strictly is pure 100% commercial station fodder, why is the BBC wasting money on it when it is supposed to exist to provide quailty content rather than chase ratings?

Yep. That's exactly why every justification they try to make for these nonsensical decisions falls flat on it's face like a contestant in "Hole in The Wall" (another 'quality' BBC1 programme).

As you say, if the BBC stopped making Strictly then ITV would buy the rights and continue to make EXACTLY the same show. Eastenders likewise etc etc

It just does not make sense. At all.

Yet another email/petition angle to bombard from (guessing quite a few people already got an email about this though).

The BBC are getting it from all angles on this and rightly so. 47% increase in listeners, awards, hit all targets, good value for money............there's not one argument left to close the station (not that there was a valid one in the first place).

Was always optimistic about this because of the massive number of complaints etc.

From @callummay (who works for the BBC) on Twitter:

Just heard some news about 6Music. Frustratingly, not allowed to say what it is for a bit. But put it like this: HIP HIP HOO-BLOODY-RAY!

Looks good.

Proper kick in the teeth there for Thompson. Every one of his arguments completely rubbished!

A rare victory for common sense. :bounce:
