From possibly the only on BT infrastructure one here (in the UK that is) - Karoo here in Hull:

Jim - all the uploads are shite - this is with ADSL2+ which has made the upload twice as fast as it used to be.

I know, that is why mine is +1mb/s, every one else seems to be on adsl 1 with <0.5mb/s.

Where is my rocket pack!!!!!!
This isn't the future!

Miles faster than what I had two weeks ago, makes UKBouldering on Vimeo much more fun!

Had Plusnet FTTC trial fitted last week, was told to expect it to accelerate over 10 days or so, speed picking up nicely now

How about this for a bit of technology progression, just upgraded my broadband to double speed FTTC...

I'm sure someone will pipe up with home Virgin FTTP over 100mbps but this isn't bad over the same shonky copper that I had five years ago. If you look back down the thread my home connection is now faster than the superJANET connection that Slackers had at the uni in 2009.

Worth checking that Fibre To The Cabinet (FTTC I presume?) is available before considering the cost.

Good speeds there Obi, prompted me to check here at work and JANET has been upgraded...

I have no idea what JANET is, but from my Shef uni computer on the standard wired network:

You could always put some of that bandwidth to use and do a search.  Essentially  JANET is the network that connects universities and educational centres in the UK, so the computer you're using at University of Sheffield is connected to the internet via JANET.

Nice speed there Coops. Nearly half the speed that B4RN are putting into rural villages in Lancs.  ;)

JB, paying around £36 per month including the line rental and landline calls. Probably not the cheapest available but it was only £3 more per month to upgrade from our previously bundle. Didn't want to switch to TalkTalk, Sky etc and Virgin isn't on our road.

Fibre optic connection in a student house - the bill is split 5 ways, so the extra couple of quid each a month to get faster internets than necessary seems well worth it!

Somehow managed to get a reasonable deal from Comcast despite their attempts to crush everything worthwhile to do with the internet and screw over as many customers as possible. Lucky that I get this given they are realistically my only provider where I am based. We pay about 30 GBP a month including basic cable and HBO.

Interesting that both the FTTPs in the US and UK have relatively poor upload speed. Surprised they aren't synchronous like Coops 1Gb connection.

Blimey that's impressive. I've been researching sharing a 4G connection across a wired network. At those speeds its got potential

In S.Manc its great - never been less than 15 DL, and I've seen it higher than 60 before..

But in Hull where I also live, 4G speeds are comensurate with 3G in most places... everyone uses it... depends where you are etc..
