Hey, can anyone local tell me if there's any hope of the moorland grit being dry tomorrow (Rylstone, Crookrise, Widdop, Simon's Seat etc. etc.). I take it there's been a serious amount of rain in the last few days so I'm not hopeful...

You re best bet would be the places catching the wind/sunlight, Simons/Lord seat and Rlystone/Brimham.

I know widdop is holding the dampness at mo, drove past recently and it looked dank. Scout crag on the other side of the res could be a good option, quick walk in and a quite good probs and had people climbing there.

Crookrise may be too damp too, i ve been there a few times after rainy spells and its not been to good, either shelter from the trees or moor above has stopped the wind blowning it dry.

Yes that helps, cheers for the info. As I suspected really after speaking to a mate in Ilkley. Fingers crossed for some good drying weather

Bad news is that it rained alot during the night but good news is that its not raining now and the sky has blue bits in it, also the wind is pretty strong so you could get lucky.

Almscliff. Maybe not 'moorland grit' but its the fastest drying crag in the region...

Cheers for the updates. I know Almscliff dries fast but had my eye on some specific things

I headed south instead today which was probably the best plan, but I'll no doubt be trying to scrounge yorkshire conditions beta again soon...

was good yesterday (tues) squidgy walk up the hill but fine once you were up there.... Rock felt a bit soapy at first but was actually fine (just very clean probably!) Tim got some good stuff done...

If it stays dry tonight it should be ok by tomorrow, although it does look like you could be dodging showers in the morning. Obvious stuff will be dry (front of virgin, prob underhand, DWR, pebble wall, keel etc).

Almscliffe was very nice today. It's been brought to my attention that I don't know shit about conditions, but it felt quite nice to me. Better than the Peak apparently!

I'd give slipstones a miss at the moment - theres quite alot of windy up and down road to get along first! Unless of course that particular part of the NE has managed to avoid any snow!

So has anyone got any suggestions for somewhere that will be climbable on Sunday? We're based in Huddersfield but don't mind a bit of travel. Just bored of turning up to find everywhere green an miserable, and theres only so much time you can spend at West Vale...
