Off to Font next week in the campervan with the missus. She not much of climber (not as good as hockey apparently) so I'm after other stuff to do.

We're taking the bikes, going to have a look round the Chateau, walk, go horse riding hopefully (any knowledge?) eat a lot of cake etc.

Any other must dos that're non-climbing? Isn't there some weird interactive structure/ arty sculpture somewhere? Worth a visit?

(Any hints on easy areas that the shortie (literally, she's 5'1") will love greatly appreciated as well)

Milly and Barbizon are nice little towns for a wander and a pavement cafe lunch. Had a nice meal in the restaurant in the corner of the big square in Milly.

my missus is 5'2" and pretty much only climbs when in Font.  She enjoyed the yellow circuit at Rocher Canon, it's low, unpolished and quiet with generally good landings.  There's a nice picnic area there too (in fact it might be a handy place to park up for the night, if that's allowed?)

There's also nice blue and red circuits there if you're after something a little harder for yourself.

Mind you don't get any ho's knocking on your window if you park up overnight at Canon. That would definitely not wow her.

Put her on the kids circuits to start off with.  I'm only 5ft, and weak, and I really enjoyed a lot of them when we were there, they're really well suited to being wee and not a great climber / new to bouldering.  If she'll be upset at being put on kids stuff, lie.  ;)

I would say if you want her to enjoy it, and be keen to do more, make sure you point her in the direction of stuff she's going to be able to get up, I found a lot of Font pretty demoralising cause everything felt harder, she'll be more likely to enjoy it if she can actually do a good proportion of the problems.

That's the one Chris! Shame it's only open on weekends.

Cheers for all the tips guys (and girl). Rocher Cannon is definately on the cards now and we'll do Bois Rond too. Definately want her to enjoy it. She's not done much so easy stuff is the key. I'll just say the kid's circuits and just easyish ones.

Not bothered about harder stuff for me, just fancy pottleing about trying stuff I fancy (Hard for me isn't exactly hard)

We've done Paris and as we're only ther for 5 days thought we'd stick in the area.

We really enjoyed Bois Rond too, lovely setting, nice probs and usually very quiet.

You could go to EuroDisney for a day, would that wow her?

When I first read the title I thought it was "Bouldering in Font to impress the missus"  - then thought that could be a good thread title in itself.. the most 'look at me - grrr' type routes in Font (that is easy but impressive looking!)

Orange and Yellows at Roche de Potets are all mostly low ball too. Good beginners circuits.

I thought the Malsherbes morning market the highlight of the last time I went to Font.

I skulked around a few Catholic graveyards when it was too cold to climb, some wicked frosted gothic  gravestones/sculpture; so much grander than British or German graveyards.

Shorties love Paris.
:agree:

A mate of mine took his 'no tail' to gay paris for the day while on a winter font trip. Ahh the romance...right up until they spotted two tramps bumming on one of those hot air vents from the metro. Gay Paris indeed.
