Keen Roof - low start
« on: July 08, 2009, 06:43:51 am »
Nacho Sanchez completed his new low start into keen roof. It starts as for Ben's, but heads straight out to the big undercling at the start of the hard section of keen roof. I suppose in some ways this draws a line under the 'controvesy' surrounding the first ascent, and whether James climbed the problem that Rich has envisaged. It now starts where Rich said he always intended to start it from, but avoids the knee bar and 120 degree turn that James (quite rightly, IMHO) said would have detracted from the problem.

Anyway, it looks totally brilliant. Nacho not sure on grade (f"ucking, fucking hard 8b... maybe 8b+" seemed to be his initial reaction!)

Saw this last night, well impressed. As far as I'm concerned, its The Peak's first 8c. The one time I don't take a camera....

Nice one. Is this the thing James was trying last year? If so, I remember him saying it was an 8A (new bit) into an 8B (Keen Roof) and that he thought it would be 8B+. Or is it slightly different? (I remember James's project started a little to the right of Ben's Roof start).

I hoped so but the illusion was shattered on discovery he was called Ignacio Sanchez.  :'(

Anyway, just saw a video of this and it's mega-impressive! Mighty fine effort!

Its different. James' thing started right of bens roof and added some hard climbing into keen roof. Effort Nacho!
