Any updates from within the peak? Seems pretty damp here in central Sheffield.

Castleton webcam shows similar. Damp roads and walls with high humidity.

The rest of the Peak looks pretty damp as well

Secret garden, not too far off this afternoon. With a bit of a breeze it would have dried in no time.

Was that you who gave me the padding beta for Dick Williams before despondently wandering off?

Ah, I'd already buggered off to lose my knuckles at Mother Cap by then then.

Curbar reportedly 'mint' this morning, Burbage marginal at dusk. Clag on the higher moors.

Baltic in the wind at the plantation today.

Good conditions though.

Baltic in the wind at the plantation today.

Good conditions though.

PS - Not that it applies to anyone on here (I hope) but the place looked a mess. Most problems caked in chalk, presumably from the over eager types trying what must have been damp problems over the last couple of days.

This coupled with some excessive donkey ticks at Curbar yesterday makes me a bit sad / angry.

/Rant over

Plantation was a fucking disgrace on Sunday.  Particularly captain hook, Zippa and green traverse. All soaking and all covered in chalk and surrounded as people tried to dry them

I think after a damp weekend in the Peak most places that saw any visitors will have been like this. As Chris says Gorilla Warfare/Early Doors was a disgrace on Monday, Suavito and G-Thang were in a pretty sorry state yesterday.

Just a reminder that chalk doesn't dry rock, please remove tickmarks after use and brush off excess chalk on holds.

Yep -

I've been frequenting the plantation of late, usually during the week when its quiet.  I was dismayed to find all the footholds on the deliverance slab had been 'poffed' with chalk balls.  Impossible to brush off and lets face it, that lump of grit needs as little brushing as possible. I reckon it'll not too long before we see some sort of tipping point where the smears really start to get worn away quickly.  :wall:

I've been avoiding weekends because I really don't think I'd be able to cope with the levels of fcukwhittery and would probably just ruin my day. [/Humbug]

A fair bit of snow around Burbage / Stanage. Plenty of dry rock around but snowy topouts likely to be the crux.

Snow proof problems thread is here

Ringinglow road was passable with care although the slight uphill after Fiddler's Elbow was like an ice rink. Saw a few vehicles struggle to make it up and even an X5 ended up sideways with the sudden loss of traction.

Had a quick scout over to Flatworld at Baslow this afternoon. Similar story, quite a bit of snow about but stuff that was getting some sun was fine. Run off might be an issue for some stuff over the next day or two unless the temperatures drop. froggatt and curbar looked similar.

Main roads out of sheffield were fine. Little road to the top of curbar gap was ok but probably a bit spicey if you wanted to follow it down to curbar village.

Can anyone hazard a guess as to whether the following might be ok to climb tomorrow:
- Secret Garden
- Mark’s Roof
- Suavito

May well be, drifting snow this evening near Burbage, main roads fine, but I'd wait for the sun to be out for a bit first! It'll be bloody cold If it's anything like today.

due to its shit summer 'slick' tyres no doubt.  Driving a big 4x4 with smooth/quiet/summer/slick tyres on is like putting on yer big coat, your hat, your scarf, your mitts and then
slipping into some flip flops for a walk up the icy paths  :wall:

A fair amount of stuff unclimbable today due to snow/ice. Secret garden was ok for the most part until the snow came. Curbar was all good and snow free on the boulders

You must have been there earlier than me - I checked out Secret Garden early afternoon and I’m not convinced anything was OK to climb on by then with the possible exception of the 2 problems right of the arête on the left hand side. Other stuff might have been climbable, but wouldn’t have done the rock any good - damp slopers and no breeze to dry things off. I gave up and went to the Works.

-4.5 at Burbage bridge at dusk. There are bits of dry rock, where the sun has been on it, but a lot of tops and shady aspects plastered.

Ringinglow Road is passable with care but white on the top and doesn't look to have seen much grit. Will be very icy up there in the morning.

Has anyone been out today or got any thoughts on likelihood of anything being in nick around Curbar Baslow area tomorrow?)
