Yoga might help (a mashed vertebra was what got me started) but I'd get Dr's input first. Cliff Bond in Liverpool is excellent, very down to earth. It's bien quite a while since I did yoga in Liverpool but he's on Facebook if you want to enquire: https://en-gb.facebook.com/people/Cliff-Bond/100009913597225

It's not bad really but...

Butter wouldn't melt in his little mouth - but I caught the little f*cker marking his territory (aka pissing) all over one of my bouldering mats earlier :D

That probably means your scent on the mat smells like cat piss.

Hah!
The kids' new rabbit pissed in my trainers, both, repeatedly and I didn't cotton on (because I pulled them on after they'd dried) until I took them off to put my climbing shoes on.
Rabbit piss is incredibly rank.
Enough that in a room full of sweaty climbers and minging rock shoes, I still almost hurled when I sniffed them to see if it was really me...

It was the way he backed up to the mat, flipped up the tail and gave a little wiggle (with a smug look) as he squirted.

I thought neutered tom's were not supposed to do that any more..? Oh well.

OMM - that's both funny and gruesome!

Fifth injury of the year...

Doc recommending scans on elbow for nerve damage caused by missing my pad a couple of weeks ago. Let's hope the NHS is quick and that 2017 can bring fewer injuries   :'(

I have delayed a few opportunities to share one of these on the forum but today was different.

My twelfth session on Advanced Training, 7C+, and the sixth that has been entirely devoted to it since I first got through the low crux and figured "next time it will go". That feels a long time ago now. Today was utterly useless.

The "easy" top out to Man of Steel that I found so trivial back in September now feels aspirational. I cannot for the life of me fathom how I did that move static in just a couple of attempts, and coming back from a bouldering session feeling like a hero now feels a very distant memory indeed. Two hours this morning in bone dry conditions I tried and I tried to do that "easy" top move but never really got close.

It's a case of not trying hard enough (though I promise you I tried to try), combined with some genuine deconditioning that has come from getting out less often, saving skin all week for yet another unsuccessful send attempt, the crushing experience of going back to work with this unfinished business and the door slamming shut on my five sessions a week lifestyle.

So not with a bang but with a whimper I have to walk away from this thing for now. I cannot face devoting another week of my life to it and all the juggling and childcare that involves. No now. No. No. Fucking. No.

Good luck with your projects guys.

Um...

Fuck!

My sympathies.

Doesn't cut it, but I mean it.

All posts either sarcastic, tongue-in-cheek or mildly mocking-in-a-friendly-way unless otherwise stated. I always forget to put those smiley things...

I'm really sorry to read that Toby - my deepest sympathies. My mum died in the spring. Although we weren't with her when she did eventually die (in the early hours of the morning, after several days essentially unconscious) all her family were with her in her last lucid moments. She knew we were all there and, I think, knew and accepted what was happening. I think she was even happy in that moment. She told us she loved us and to look after each other. It was, so far as such a thing exists, a good death and that has helped me a great deal. The pangs of all you were not able to share with her, and your father, will probably always be there, I've little doubt, but I hope there will at least be some solace in the way of her going.

New car last Thursday. Smashed window and rope stolen from the boot by Sunday. Gah. At least they left our bouldering mats.

Dislocated my toe yesterday during karate. It was stuck out sideways last my little toe, and because it had gone so far it tore the skin under my toes too for good measure. It was a "little bit stingy" when it was out back in. But why it's a NNFN is that I'm supposed to be going to the Nottingham gin festival today and we've even got baby sitters.

Had a big off yesterday on my road bike, went over a blind summit and hit a lump of raised tarmac resulting in a tumble over the bars. Lots of grazes and swollen wrist plus shooting pains across my shoulders in to my biceps, from either whiplash or banging my upper spine.
Nothing broken other than my pride, bike doesn't look too bad scuffed handle bar tape, brake lever and saddle. Helmet cracked but it did its job.
Might not be posting too much in next weeks power club.

Ouch! Have you been for a proper check up. At least bike is OK.

You can exchange some helmets for a discount after they have taken a bashing can't you.

Or just get a paper one!

Went to local minor injuries which was shut but saw the out of hours doctor who sent me to another minor injuries, who then  sent me to A& E. I was at the first one at 6 o'clock got home at 2.30 in the morning.
X rayed and CT scanned all clear apart from god knows what soft tissue damage.

Bit of rock I've been waiting for ages to dry out was finally dry last night. After working a few moves I promptly snapped off the crucial starting hold. Any suggestions for gluing schist. Or is it granite? Andy?
