Sounds nasty, bearing in mind 10-15m is like falling off the top of stanage popular end.

What exactly is a "rope transfer" in this context? Is this one of those sport crags you can't lower off on a normal rope?

Jumared up to the crux and stsrted climbing before clipping in,  I've gathered.

The ground in the Flatanger cave is full of boulders. Very lucky that it didn't end up worse

Not bad really, but third night in Hotel Ibis Nemours, coutesy of the RAC while the van gets fixed and the repair bill rises as fast as the rain falls.

Petis Bois and Rocher Greau are walking distance? I once went to Puiselet Le Paradis one hot Easter and there are a couple of choice problems there (Quetzal 7B+ is a hidden classic). At least you are not being put up in the Première Classe - we moved from there to the Ibis cos it was so grim.

We will be out of here as fast as we can once the van is fixed!  Roche Greau yesterday was positively tropical, just right for a few goes on les conquistadors. I reckon Puiselet is a bit far to walk, thanks for the advice though.

Motorbike broken again. Seems a major electric problem, it just doesn't generate electricity. What have I done to upset the God of Motors?

Ouch... You're not having much luck with it, are you...

I just pulled my front pads off to find one of them was completely worn down to metal.... But weirdly the other was absolutely fine. Pain in the arse but able to get a new set this afternoon and fit them tomorrow...

Work it in and out a few times (in by squeezing the brake lever - then wedge it back out with a screwdriver) - usually does the trick. Be careful about using any oils/freeing agents as 1. Its near the brakes and 2. it may affect the durability of the caliper seals..

Kinda thing you can keep an eye on as it takes 2 secs to check every now and then... (and is fairly important!)

Got the van back for two days then the alternator packed in! Then I pranged the side of the Hertz hire car on a boulder. Our luck must change surely?

Got on Brass Monkeys when properly tired today so wasn't expecting much, after a handful of tries I'm on the jugs and just need to rockover and topout but I'm pumped out of my mind and jump off.

Just back from hospital appointment.I'd hoped for some good news but no,it appears there has been permanent damage to my eyesight. Consultant seems convinced it is linked to MS.
