Out of interest with Golden Shadow, is it common practice to get a heel toe on the "lean to block" at the top...if this is the done thing, its pretty weird.....kinda like the rules are "you can use the back block but only with your heels at the top". Obviously I'm sure this is utterly brick however you climb it and an amazing achievement!

I was thinking that, but looking closely I think she's just got tiny feet and only uses it as a toe hook.

Tom Newman did Cypher today. Maybe not significant by current international standards, however he is the second person (after DV) to do all of the 5 hard gritstone boulders. (High Fids, Ace, Voyager, Rhythm and cypher).

AWESOME, well done Tom

Any footage? Can't get enough of the leg flick

I once saw I guy down the wall doing the leg flick. I told him Ben Moon had a patent on the move and you had to pay him a fiver every time you used it. He looked at me like I was insane.

Pretty cool to see, so worth mentioning, that 3/5 of those boulders saw ascents yesterday. The Ace (Orrin Coley), Rhythm (David Mason) and Cypher (Tom Newman). Well done to the three of them, good day on the grit!

Yeah I thought that was a pretty cool statistic. Bet it doesn't happen often. Conditions weren't even that good either

Orrin doing The Ace.

Squirrel set a pretty high standard, but is this the new "loudest ascent" of The Ace?

Yeah sorry about that. Got a bit over excited. Going to try to turn it down next time.

That wasn't a criticism by the way, it's good seeing people psyched when they do things. Good effort, duly wadded :strongbench:

Effort doing The Ace and Careless in a session Orrin!

Full screaming psyche is what it's all about, that's up there with James Thorntons screaming on the The Ace:

Shouldn’t it be the big 6 with Lanny Bassam?  It’s a big line and Varien found it harder than High Fidelity.

I know, but does it count as Yorkshire grit?

It's not in the holy bible volume 1 or 2.

edit: regardless I'd happily include it in the Yorkshire big 5. It's hard enough and certainly a king line.

Dave Mac has repeated Catalan Witness the Fitness. Decent return to form considering he had a fucked shoulder 6 months ago. https://davemacleod.blogspot.co.uk/2018/02/catalan-witness-fitness.html

Most significant for the fact that he didn't dab on a highly dabbable climb.

off topic: why does the video not seem to embed any more?
EDIT: it does, just not in preview. Odd.
