Is it significant when a visiting Yank solos a 200ft E8 6b?

Definitely impressive, at least.

Nutter

He only took two nuts for the whole route (but they were huge).

I'm hoping he didn't place them.

Nice one Caff.

Also just saw a clip of Honnold flashing The Dark Side, E8 6c, at Fair Head on instagram. John Roberts/johnrobeds if you are interested...

Stuff like that must feel pretty chill when he's actually using a rope. Not going to be scared on run outs is he.

I'm guessing this is Mr Honnold at Fairhead. The Complete Scream?

Edit: just found the clip. It's a fine looking slice of rock and an obvious target.

Does that "all the E9s in North Wales " include some of the scary loose stuff on the Lleyn? Does any of that get E9?

Alex Mason got the third ascent of Nightmayer yesterday,  despite pulling onto the halfway ledge in proper rain. Belayed by Steve Mayers himself no less.

No, I think Stevie's headpoint on Dorys was E8. The big tick on the Lleyn is Birdie, it's only been done twice as far as I know, and not repeated now for many years. In the same era the same first ascent team put up Bobok on Dorys, which they gave E4 and was unrepeated for twenty years, now considered hard E6. Whereas they gave Birdie E6...

Nightmayer is definitely up there with Conan the librarian as one of the best route names! Quality tick!

Jong Won Chon has flashed Bear Toss (font 8B) and has done Jade (font 8B+) third try according to a report on UKC.

From the report it also sounds like he is trying hypnotized minds font 8C+ with Rustam Gelmanov so there maybe more for this thread in a couple of days...

Lena Hermann repeats Markus Bock's Battle Cat in the Frankenjura, becoming the first woman to climb 8c+ in the 'jura and the first German woman to climb 8c+. Having managed to find a 70 move endurance fest in the Frankenjura, in itself no small achievement.

In related news, Melissa Le Neve, channelling Ben Moon, is working Action Directe but had to take a break from it because of the risk of finger injury.

A mate of mine ran into Melissa in restaurant in Betzenstein a few months ago. I claim an indirect Wad Tick.
