Bad on Saturday. Apart from a few holds at cottage above head height everything else; wrights, ousal, gentlemens, virgin wall was gopping and 'snapable'

Also 'chemical spraying , no access permitted' signs up around Gentlemen's including on the path up to it . Not sure how long these will be up for but seems to be a lot of logging going on in that area.

Was at Wright's today, and it was mostly dry. The holds on the second half of the traverse seemed to develop a small amount of grease of their own accord.

We were at Ina's today, most of Thumbelina was dry but snow had blown in on to the ledge.   Also worthy of note, there was a huge (maybe 50cm deep and 1mx2m area) hole opened up right underneath most of the problem, probably due to ground collapse as the roots of the old tree have rotted or something.  Someone might put some photos up later.  Anyway we filled it all in with a mix of stones and wood then leaves over the top, the landing is fine again right now but it will gradually lower again as the wood rots.

Did anyone get out anywhere else eg Wrights or Gents, how much is dry?

Didn't look man-made no.  A mate took a photo, hopefully he'll put it up at some point.

More? importantly, is there much chance of anything being dry? Would be interested in Simple Simon / Bizarre specifically.

Cheers

Don't know about those problems but Gents was largely dry today.  However access was a problem, both usual car parks were under 6 inches+ of snow, we had to park off-piste somewhere and walk in about 45 minutes through the snow (thanks to Nan's local knowledge!)  However this snow will mostly be gone by tomorrow night I reckon.

Hmmm, I probably made a good call by not going then. I definitely don't have local knowledge, cheers for the update.

Any thoughts welcome. Is it worth a punt at Wrights or Ousal tomorrow or is it a waste of time?

How's it looking? Coming up Sunday so hoping it will be in condition. Mainly interested in Wrights Rock but I'm bringing a mate who's never been so it'd be rude not to send him up high speed imp act!

Wrights was all good on Mon. Landings still a little muddy but should be fine by Sat.

Anyone been recently have any thoughts on whether it's worth a shot tomorrow? Not been before, was thinking of wrights?
And how are the roads thereabouts at the moment?

Its been raining/snowing all around the peak for a few days before I left Derby on Friday morning.
Being softer sandstone, if you get anything done on the overhanging wrights rock; the rock may be in soft and brittle condition.

I would probably give Churnet a miss tomorrow.
Just campus it...

The snow and drift have been pretty grim around these parts, and I know Alton was shut off for a while today. Might have been ploughed by now, but no guarantee access is clear. Could ring Ramblers Retreat for an update?

Drove down the Red Road today - it's fine as it's sheltered, so none of the drifting thats affected the rest of the region - didn't check any rock though; suspect a lot is in.
